Danehill Group is the private investment manager for the Murray family. Founded in 2024, it is run by John and Hamish Murray.
Our aim is to be a trusted partner and capital provider, leveraging our experience, expertise and network to create mutually beneficial investment opportunities. Investment
Our approach is driven by three core investment segments:
Wealth Management
We seek an absolute return by outsourcing long-term capital to a select group of fund managers. Our mandate ensures we have minimal limitations on the asset classes we allocate to.
Commercial Real Estate
We focus on a variety of commercial real estate (CRE) sectors and generally gain exposure via syndicates, co-investments and direct deals. Our flexibility allows us to balance patience with urgency so we can identify opportunities and deploy capital throughout the investment cycle. A large portion of our CRE activity is facilitated by Alta Capital Partners.
Operating Companies
We have a passion for investing in private operating companies and enjoy maintaining a hands-on approach with the companies in our portfolio. We look for experienced individuals and teams that are pursuing a new opportunity or a new stage of growth.
Who we are
John Murray
John established Perennial Value in 2000 and has over thirty years’ experience in the investment management industry. He is one of Australia’s most respected value investors and has evolved Perennial Value over time to encompass a range of well-established active management capabilities. In October 2014, John was inducted into the Australian Funds Management Hall of Fame.
In 2016, John co-founded Perennial Partners which joins with highly talented investment professionals to own and operate boutique investment management firms. Perennial Partners has some $8bn in funds under management across seven boutique investment firms.
Hamish Murray
Prior to establishing Danehill Group, Hamish spent close to four years working at Koda Capital in the investment advice unit. He worked intimately with high-net-worth individuals and investment managers across a diverse number of global public and private asset classes.
Hamish has also held roles at Perennial, where he worked across both the investment and distribution teams. Hamish holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning.
